In 2019, RBC Future Launch and Riipen launched a partnership with the goal of increasing access to high-impact work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunities for Canadian post-secondary students Our shared mission: to help prepare learners, particularly those from underserved communities, for the Future of Work. By the end of 2022, the RBC-Riipen partnership has delivered over 27,000 online WIL experiences, to a wide diversity of learners and educational partners across Canada with the potential of delivering over 250,000 by 2026.

Data Programming II - Spring 25
DAT 303
This course is part of the Big Data Programming and Analytics certificate program. Students in the program are adult learners with a post-secondary degree/diploma in computer science, engineering, business, etc. This course is designed to present the fundamental concepts and theories in Data Analytics and promote the application to the workplace and professional practice. Students begin with an exploration of MongoDB which is a document database with scalability and flexibility for queries and indexing, and progress to the ELK stack – a technology stack used for logging with different components, such as Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana. Course activities will include instructor presentations, required readings and experiential learning activities (i.e. case studies, group discussions, projects, etc.).

Data Analytics and Modelling - Spring 25

This course is part of the Data Analytics certificate program. Students in the program are adult learners with a post-secondary degree/diploma in computer science, engineering, business, etc. This course offers an introduction to data science and machine learning paving the way for students to learn data analytics principles. In particular, this course begins with a brief history of data analytics and data science, followed by regression analysis, regression and classification trees, and ends with introductions to K-means clustering, principal component analysis (PCA). Each lecture has associated with it a practical lab session in which students will put "theory into practice" offering students a hands-on approach to learning the material.

Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Learners in this program/experience are capable of applying digital technology to advanced manufacturing and mechatronics challenges.

GEOG 101 - Earth Systems Analysis

This experience focuses on the foundational concepts of Physical Geography, emphasizing the understanding of spatial processes affecting the Earth's surface. Learners will have a grasp of the interactions between the atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. They will be equipped to apply this knowledge to analyze environmental patterns, assess natural resource distribution, and evaluate ecological impacts. This understanding can be directly applied to projects that require environmental assessments, resource management strategies, or sustainability evaluations.

Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on students from Saskatchewan Polytechnic to be your student-consultants, in a project-based experience. Students will work on one main project over the course of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Students in this program/course study and employ practical and theoretical concepts obtained in first year systems analysis and design courses by building an IT system. They will work as part of a development team on an IT problem for an external industry client. Their project will include the production and demonstration of functioning components of the system each release within deadlines set out in their project management documentation

All details and questions are discussed in the document below. Program Overview and Partnership Invitation Document This program has been run for 17 cohorts over 7 years and with 200+ partners. We work with 30+ partners every term. We will not be able to respond to messages on Riipen. Quick summary: students take this course to develop a software application (web, mobile or desktop) for various use cases. Previous examples include mobile apps for finding travelers in a specific community and web-based application for connecting a non-profit to volunteers. If the project information interests you, please go through the steps mentioned in the document. After reviewing 300+ proposals, we have created a thorough process to streamline the process for all involved. We will not be able to accept requests on Riipen as the proposals need to be chosen by the students when the term begins.
