Details

The Rural Development Network (RDN) is looking for students to help our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Committee research best policies and practices for IDEA Committees. The project aims to provide a written report of best policies, practices and recommendations for committees related to equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility in a workplace.

We believe this project will include:

  • Conducting an environmental scan to provide best policies and practices for IDEA Committees for not-for profits
  • Conducting research on committee membership
  • Provide a written report of best policies and practices for IDEA Committees with listing of recommendations and training options
Deliverables
No deliverables exist for this project.
Mentorship

Students will be supervised by committee co-chairs and have access to any information needed to complete the project. We will also invite students to participate at our monthly committee meetings, so they can see how we're working toward Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility at RDN to inform research project.

Since this is a virtual internship, we need students to have adequate access to a computer and reliable internet. We may be able to provide support for laptop and A/V equipment if this is a barrier to engagement.

RDN supports the sustainability of rural communities. We work with communities to amplify the "rural voice". We collaborate to identify and bring focus to rural issues, build local capacity, and find innovative, rural-based solutions to unique issues.

RDN’s approach is founded on supporting communities in their efforts to address social issues. We listen to hear and understand communities' needs, and provide support by developing solutions with them. Each solution is tailored to reflect the uniqueness of the residents it aims to serve.
