Overview
Learner goals and capabilities

The learners in this experience are completing their final semester in a Masters of Science in Data Science and Analytics. Their technical skills include:

  • Data Acquisition, Wrangling, and Cleansing
  • Statistisical Analysis including Supervised and Unsupervised models such as regression, monte carlo, and cluster analysis.
  • Machine Learning
  • Python & R Programming
  • SQL Database and NoSQL

They are capable of completing a project - from scratch - that includes processing and cleansing data, identifying and applying the appropriate analysis techniques, and delivering and communicating resutls.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Student teams need to have at least one weekly communication opportunity with the client. This can be a live zoom-type meeting, or can be asynchronous on a platform like Slack. The students MUST be able to receive feedback for weekly deliverables/work products beginning October 1, 2024.

Students will present their final projects to the customer the week of December 2, 2024. Clients will be asked to complete an evaluation form that will be a component of final grading for the team.

The team will provide all code and final deliverables to the client.

Project Examples

Projects that can be completed by a part-time team of 3-4 team members. Projects might include topics such as:

  • Market analysis
  • Social Media sentiment analysis
  • Sales and operations analytics and optimization
  • Student or consumer segmentation and marketing.

The project should have data accessible to the students as of the beginning of the class (no later than 9/1/2024). The data does not have to be ready for analysis, but should be ready to be shared by that date.

Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Will you have a data set ready to be shared by September 1, 2024?

Will you be able to interact with the students at least once a week (either via Slack or live)?

Will you be able to provide final analysis and evaluation of the students by December 5th?
