SUSTAIN Magazine has established itself as a strong voice for sustainable processes and practices within the food and beverage supply chain - from agriculture to retail to restaurants. The pandemic had a tremendous impact on these industries, but also impacted our publication and its ability to generate revenue as a result.

SUSTAIN has applied for a grant from the Canadian Periodicals Fund to strategically pivot to a media organization focused on driving awareness in the area of the UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). https://sdgs.un.org/goals#goals Governments, NGOs and corporate citizenship all have a critical role to play in Canada, and around the globe. SUSTAIN wishes to bring these goals to life through our publication, but also through training & education, thought leadership and planned industry events.

We would love for the students to develop a plan for our publication and action steps in order to achieve these outcomes.

Deliverables
  • A review of the SUSTAIN Magazine publication, its efforts, successes, and failures
  • Brainstorming the opportunities to build or diversify our content to grow our audiences. This should be a plan for SUSTAIN to grow into B2C audiences as more individuals are becoming concerned citizens and fierce champions for change. We want to embrace and engage these passionate allies.
  • Recommendations with substantiating evidence and a clear plan for next steps for the magazine's evolution to achieve these changes.
Mentorship

We are only too happy to provide:

  • A briefing document along with a facilitated overview of the important themes and needs for the project
  • Any key messages, target audiences and available creative assets to help them understand the brand
  • A single point of contact (POC) assigned to your course and students, with a team of experts available for questions
  • Access to Slack, Google Workspace, and some other project management tools. We welcome the students so they can feel as though they are part of the team, or at arm's length - whatever is best.
  • *For those running courses outside of Canada*, we'll provide guidance and direction for the students to better understand the Canadian business (and geographical) landscape, along with openly available sources of data that could be useful in making their assessments.
  • Recognition of the school's involvement and the students' work in a media release (if permitted) and attribution of the students' contributions via LinkedIn or references as required.
