This is a fantastic opportunity to collaborate with Environmental Science graduate students from the Master of Sustainability: Energy Security program at the University of Saskatchewan over a 1-2 year period.


The students will work on creating a community energy plan focused on renewable and clean energy initiatives, with a strong emphasis on engaging with Indigenous communities. 


As we complete student enrollments for the upcoming semester, we will share detailed information about project commitments and workload at the start of the Fall term, ensuring that all parties are aligned with the objectives.


Please note: The students will be responsible for picking project partners and aligning project deliverables alongside their instructor.

Intercultural Sustainability Dialogue Initiative 

  • Develop intercultural awareness and critical sustainability analysis through dialogue, fostering professional growth and systems thinking.


Renewable Energy Initiatives in Indigenous Communities: Comparative Analysis and Policy Recommendations

  • Investigating renewable energy projects in Indigenous communities across Canada, Alaska, and Scandinavia to analyze challenges, successes, and community impacts, and proposing policy enhancements for sustainable energy transitions.


Indigenous Renewable Energy Initiative

  • Integrating renewable energy solutions in Indigenous communities through community surveys, lifecycle assessments, policy analysis, and traditional knowledge integration to promote sustainability and energy sovereignty.


Integrated Assessment and Development of Renewable Energy in Northern Indigenous Communities

  • This project aims to evaluate the economic, social, and cultural impacts of renewable energy projects, foster community engagement, and promote economic reconciliation in Northern Indigenous communities through comprehensive research and program development.


Community-Driven Renewable Energy Initiative

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive plan to assess feasibility, secure funding, manage projects, and engage the community in adopting renewable energy solutions


Comprehensive Community Energy Transition Plan

  • Develop an integrated community energy transition plan incorporating systems thinking, regulatory analysis, Indigenous partnership strategies, and community engagement to create a sustainable and legally compliant renewable energy project.


Cold Lake First Nation Renewable Energy Transition Plan

  • Develop a comprehensive plan for Cold Lake First Nation, including an analysis of their Zero Emission strategy, assessment of green energy opportunities, feasibility study of renewable resources, and an actionable implementation strategy to achieve sustainable energy goals.


Indigenous Community Negotiation and Reflection Program

  • Develop a comprehensive program involving background research, simulation exercises, discussion posts, and reflective analysis to enhance negotiation skills and understanding of Indigenous community engagement in sustainable development.


Comprehensive Community Energy Resilience and Security Plan

  • Create a comprehensive energy profile and resilience strategy, analyzing current use, forecasting needs, assessing climate risks, and proposing improvements, while incorporating comparative analysis and community engagement for energy security.
